Tessie is an accomplished Human Resources and People & Culture leader with more than 20 years of experience across the non-profit, corporate, and academic sectors, including both unionized and non-unionized environments. She is passionate about building healthy workplace cultures, enhancing organizational effectiveness, and supporting employee growth through strategic and values-driven human resources leadership.
Her expertise spans organizational psychology, labour relations, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and salary administration, performance management, organizational development, workforce planning, leadership coaching, policy development, training and facilitation, change management, and employee wellness. Tessie is recognized for her people-centered approach and unwavering commitment to equity, inclusion, collaboration, psychological safety, and integrity. She is known for “walking the talk,” consistently aligning her leadership practices with her personal and professional values.
Tessie currently serves as Senior Human Resources Manager at the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver, where she supports organizational success while advocating for and empowering women, immigrants, and individuals facing systemic and social barriers.
She holds a Doctorate in Management specializing in Organizational Management and Psychology, with an academic foundation in counselling and psychology. She also completed Human Resources studies at Simon Fraser University and Human Resources training for the non-profit sector through Vantage Point. An active member of CPHR BC & Yukon, Tessie brings extensive HR leadership experience, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to fostering inclusive and thriving workplaces.
