Alison Dantas, MA, CEC, C.Dir

 

Alison is an accomplished organizational leader with a passion for equity and inclusion, social justice, and innovation. She brings to EFry more than 35 years of experience working in the not-for-profit sector in government, community organizations, and professional associations. Most recently, she led the Canadian Chiropractic Association as CEO. Her not-for-profit leadership experience also includes the CEO of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Executive Director of the Association of Ontario Midwives. As well, Alison was Executive Director of the Peel Rape Crisis Centre.

 

Over the course of her career, Alison has built a deep understanding of the environments within which EFry operates. In addition to advocacy and government relations through her CEO roles, she worked in government with the Ombudsman of Ontario and the Community Social Planning Council of Toronto. Her social service leadership includes Saint Monica House, a charity providing housing and support for young single mothers, and Peel Living, which provides safe and affordable housing for low-income people.

 

Being of service to others and addressing inequity are important principles that guide both her work and her life. Alison has held numerous voluntary positions in a wide variety of educational, social, advocacy, and fundraising groups. She cites the seven years she and her late husband provided live-in support to the residents of a transitional house for women and children escaping violence as particularly impactful in forming her commitment to social justice. Alison’s work has been recognized with numerous awards. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Waterloo in Regional Planning and Resource Development. She is also a certified Executive Coach and a Certified Chartered Director.
