Courtney Daws

Courtney is a practicing lawyer, project manager and strategic advisor with 20 years of experience working with and supporting First Nations and Indigenous organizations across the country on legal, policy, governance, negotiation, and political matters related to advancing self-determination and transformative change.

 

Courtney is currently the Provincial Director, Legal Aid Services, at the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) and is responsible for overseeing the transition of legal aid services for Indigenous peoples from Legal Aid BC (formerly Legal Services Society) to the BCFNJC.

 

Prior to joining BCFNJC in 2023, Courtney held senior positions in the legal, political, consulting, and social sectors and was the inaugural recipient of the 2020 YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Reconciliation – Ally.
