On behalf of the Board of Directors of EFry Greater Vancouver, I am delighted to announce that Azra Hussain has been appointed as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1st.
Azra has served as our Interim CEO over the past several months, and during this time, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, deep integrity, and a steadfast commitment to our mission.
Azra is a highly respected leader with over 20 years of executive experience in the non-profit sector. Her professional designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) reflect the depth of her expertise in strategy, fundraising, financial oversight, governance, and operations. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer at the Surrey Hospitals Foundation, where her visionary leadership helped propel the organization forward.
Throughout her career, Azra has been recognized for her dynamic and collaborative approach. She is a builder and a connector—someone who leads with purpose and passion. Her ability to engage teams, foster innovation, and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion has earned her accolades including Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award (2021), the Surrey Board of Trade’s Women in Business Not-for-Profit Leader Award (2020), and the YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Woman of Distinction in the NPO Sector (2023).
Azra’s leadership is grounded in a belief in lifelong learning, mentorship, and the power of community. We are confident that under her guidance, EFry Greater Vancouver will continue to grow and thrive in service of the women and families we support.
