The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program helps eligible participants prepare and submit basic personal tax returns. Volunteers can assist with simple tax situations, such as income from employment, pensions, government benefits, social assistance, disability benefits, or other straightforward sources. The program does not support complex tax situations, such as self- employment income, business income, rental income, capital gains, bankruptcy, or other matters that require specialized tax advice.
The goal of the program is to reduce barriers to tax filing and help community members access the benefits, credits, and income supports they may be entitled to. By offering free, accessible tax preparation support, EFry helps promote financial stability, dignity, and connection to essential supports.
