ACCW Parenting Plus Support for Mothers

EFry’s ACCW Parenting Plus Program delivers parenting education and support to incarcerated parents at Alouette Correctional Centre for Women. Using the Growing Great Kids curriculum, the program helps participants strengthen their parenting knowledge, confidence, and connection to their children while preparing for family and community life after release.

The program serves incarcerated parents who want to build or strengthen their parenting skills, better understand their child’s development, and maintain meaningful family connections while in custody. Participants may be parenting from a distance, preparing to reconnect with their children, or working to strengthen family relationships as part of their healing and reintegration journey.

Programming is offered in both group and individual formats. Through Parenting Plus, participants learn about child development, positive parenting, secure attachment, responsive caregiving, and strategies for supporting children’s emotional and social wellbeing. The program creates a supportive space for participants to reflect on their role as parents, build practical parenting tools, and strengthen confidence in their ability to support their children.

The program also connects participants to community-based parenting resources that can support families following release. These connections help parents continue building skills, accessing support, and strengthening family relationships as they transition back into the community.

The goal of the ACCW Parenting Plus Program is to support healthy parenting, strengthen parent-child relationships, and help participants build knowledge and confidence that can support their families during incarceration and after release. EFry’s approach is trauma- informed, non-judgmental, and grounded in dignity, connection, and the importance of family relationships.
