Genesa M. McMillan Greening is a visionary CEO and board leader whose career has been dedicated to strengthening community systems, advancing equity, and transforming mission‑driven organizations across Canada. With more than two decades of executive experience in nonprofit, health, housing, and community development, she is known for leading organizations through complexity with clarity, courage, and deep relational trust.
Most recently the CEO of Vancity Community Foundation and the Greater Vancouver Community Assistance Foundation, Genesa stewarded major systems‑level shifts in community-led governance, climate‑aligned investment, and housing and social infrastructure. Previously, as President & CEO of the BC Women’s Health Foundation, she built one of the province’s most influential public health education platforms, quadrupled revenue, and co‑founded Women’s Health Collective Canada to advance national research and policy change.
Her earlier leadership roles include Executive Director at First United, where she stabilized operations and prepared the organization for a generational capital redevelopment; Chief Operating Officer at Dream Corps, where she unified national initiatives and advanced tech and climate equity; and senior leadership roles at Union Gospel Mission and KCI, where she shaped major campaigns, community strategies, and sector capacity-building.
Genesa’s work is grounded in equity, belonging, and the belief that communities thrive when people closest to the issues hold power in shaping solutions. She is the founder of Apipunsit, a practitioner collective supporting nonprofits through transition, governance renewal, and organizational healing.
A mother, and step mother, of four young children, she brings a lived commitment to building systems that honour dignity, possibility, and community care.
