Sonia Virk is a lawyer, business leader, and experienced corporate director with a strong commitment to community service and governance excellence. She holds law degrees from Guru Nanak Dev University in Punjab, India, and the University of New Brunswick. After relocating to British Columbia, she completed her articles and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005.

Sonia is a co-founder of Virk Viyas & Associate Lawyers and has built a successful legal practice specializing in corporate and commercial law, residential and commercial real estate, wills and estates, and general litigation. Throughout her career, she has been recognized as a trusted legal advisor and has frequently contributed expert commentary on legal issues affecting the community.

With extensive governance experience, Sonia served on the Board of G&F Financial Group (now Beem Credit Union) from 2014 to 2023, including three years as Second Vice-Chair and as Chair of several board committees. She also served on the Board of Surrey Hospitals Foundation from 2018 to 2025, where she chaired three highly successful fundraising galas. Sonia holds the ICD.D designation, earned through the Rotman Directors Education Program.

Sonia has a long history of community involvement and leadership. In 2007, she became the youngest and first woman elected President of the Indo-Canadian Business Association of British Columbia and has contributed her expertise to numerous community initiatives throughout her career.
