ACCW Recreational Activity Program

EFry’s ACCW Recreational Activity Program provides recreational programming and skill-building opportunities for individuals incarcerated at Alouette Correctional Centre for Women. The program promotes physical fitness, personal development, wellness, and engagement through a variety of group and individual activities.
The program serves individuals at ACCW with a wide range of needs, abilities, goals, and levels of experience with recreation, fitness, and wellness activities. Participants may be looking to improve their physical health, manage stress, build strength and flexibility, increase confidence, develop healthy routines, or participate in positive and meaningful activities while in custody.
Through the program, EFry’s Recreational Activity Worker offers structured recreation, fitness, and leisure-based programming that supports physical, mental, social, and emotional wellbeing. Programming may be offered in both group and individual formats and can include activities focused on movement, fitness, wellness, goal-setting, confidence-building, and personal development.
The program is designed to be inclusive, strengths-based, and responsive to participant interests and abilities. Activities can be adapted to support participation, reduce barriers, and help individuals build skills in areas such as teamwork, motivation, self-care, emotional regulation, social connection, and healthy lifestyle planning.
The goal of the ACCW Recreational Activity Program is to support wellness, confidence, connection, and positive personal development through recreation and leisure. By offering trauma-informed, person-centred, and empowering programming, the program helps participants build skills and routines that support wellbeing during incarceration and may contribute to healthier transitions back into the community.
